Renowned Sydney artist, Jane
Bennett, has been capturing
Sydney’s vanishing industrial sites
for over 20 years. Recording the
scenes of rapidly transforming
urban landscapes, much of Jane’s
focus has been on our threatened
working harbour, the sites at
Pyrmont, Balmain and Cabarita
Point, as well as shipping yards,
Federation warehouses and our
harbour islands.
Gaining access to many a fascinating
site sometimes only days or even
hours prior to its demolition,
she’s captured everything from
the workers to the daily industry
activity on areas now abandoned,
destroyed or reconstructed. Her
tireless and dedicated work
has immortalised much of our
disappearing industrial heritage,
a beautiful and sometimes under
- appreciated heritage, which has
suffered as traditional industries
have declined.
A winner of many prominent art
awards and finalist of the Sulman,
Dobell and Wynne Prizes, Jane
brings us an insightful exhibition
into the beauty and personalities
behind our industrial heritage.
The exhibited works are for sale.
