I Love this Place Because.... 2008 Photo Competition
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
- Entry into the competition will be deemed acceptance of the terms and conditions.
- Entry is open to amateur and professional photographers who are residents of Australia.
- There is a limit of four entries per person. Should you submit more than four entries, we reserve the right to accept only the first four submitted and remove from consideration additional photos uploaded by a single entrant.
- Limited photographic manipulation is allowed, but entrants should not significantly alter the image (e.g. splice images together, add text). We recommend entrants do as little photographic manipulation as possible. Try to limit your adjustments to colour and brightness correction, cropping, dodging and burning, and let the photo speak for itself, and through your 100 words or less completing the sentence “I love this place because…”. The theme for the competition is “I love this place”, which implies that you love the place as it is, not after you have added other elements to it, and that you want to show everybody else what’s interesting about it. Please keep in mind that your 100 words or less is where you can add an extra dimension of richness and storytelling to your image. The image and text will be considered together.
- The competition runs 10am 30 June - midnight 31 August 2008. Entries submitted outside of this time frame will be considered disqualified.
- The photograph must be uploaded to the Flickr website in JPEG format, at least 1024 pixels on the longest side. If you become a finalist we may contact you to get a high resolution version for printing, preferably at A2 size (7016x4961pixels, or 240x594mm at 300dpi) in an uncompressed format (TIFF, RAW, BMP, PSD, etc).
- For your entry to be valid, you must have completed the competition questionnaire linked to the Flickr competition website, and uploaded your 100 words or less completing the sentence "I love this place....", including the name of the place, town and state in the title.
- Entry photographs must be no more than two years old and must not have been published in any other print media.
- Competition entries must be of a place within Australia.
- Photographs must be the original work of the entrant.
- All entries should address the competition theme. The National Trust of Australia (NSW) reserves the right to select from the entries submitted and to reject entries which do not comply with the size, format, theme or other requirements as outlined here.
- While copyright remains with the photographer, the National Trust of Australia (NSW) reserves the right to exhibit or reproduce the photograph for its publicity purposes, in publicity materials of competition partners ABC Local Radio and the NSW Architects Registration Board including their websites, and to reproduce the photograph for the production of a postcard for sale at National Trust properties without permission or payment.
- All entries agree that their image may be exhibited publicly by the National Trust of Australia (NSW).
- All entrants agree to participate in any media activities surrounding the competition, including publication of their images and texts in third party outlets as approved by the National Trust (NSW).
- The overall winner of the photography competition will win $2000 cash. The runner up will win a gift voucher from Georges to the value of $1500. Finalists’ images, plus others as the judges decide, will be exhibited at Customs House, Circular Quay, Sydney, on World Architecture Day, 6 October 2008, and in other venues as determined by the National Trust of Australia (NSW), the Architects Registration Board, and/or ABC Local Radio.
