Pamela Griffith - An Australian Artist's Perspective

Pamela Griffith

Exhibition Explores Chinese Zodiac

Coinciding with the Beijing Olympics, internationally renowned artist Pamela Griffith is holding an exhibition, Orientalism – An Australian Artist’s Perspective, featuring limited edition relief prints exploring the symbolism of the animals of the Asian Zodiac.

Pamela finds joy and inspiration in the Chinese view of nature and chose to carve the print blocks from wood in a style reminiscent of traditional Chinese art.

The exhibition also includes work from other Pamela Griffith’s collections including a suite of coloured etchings based on the changing seasons and a series of dramatic Chinese inspired works combining gold and silver leaf with rich oils.

The free exhibition will be held in the
Annie
Wyatt Room at the National Trust Centre,
Watson Rd, Observatory Hill, Sydney.

Exhibition runs 11 – 4pm
August 7 – 28, 2008 (closed Mondays)

Artist talks will be held at 11am on 12 & 19 August.

A limited number of complete Zodiac sets, packaged in red linen solander boxes and embossed with a black Pamela Griffith dragon design will be for sale at the exhibition.
